Managing Director Jessica's daughter Niamh writes an update on her travels which so many of you have supported...
After an incredible month in Kenya with Camps International,I’m finally home — and I’m still trying to process everything I’ve experienced!
The trip was an amazing mixture of adventure, hard work, new friendships and experiences that I know I will remember for the rest of my life. From getting stuck into community projects and conservation work to seeing some of Kenya’s incredible wildlife and landscapes, every day brought something new.
One of the biggest highlights was being able to work alongside local communities and see first-hand how even small contributions can make a real difference. It was sometimes challenging, often tiring, but always incredibly rewarding. Living and working in a completely different environment also pushed me out of my comfort zone and taught me so much about myself and the world around me.
There were, of course, plenty of unforgettable moments away from the work too — exploring Kenya, experiencing a different culture, using drop toilets (!), sharing laughs with an amazing group of people and making friendships that I hope will last a lifetime.
Looking back, I feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to take part in such a life-changing experience.
Most importantly, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who sponsored me, donated, supported my fundraising, shared my posts, encouraged me and helped me get to Kenya. Your generosity played such an important part in making this journey possible, and I genuinely couldn’t have done it without you.
I hope you know how much your support meant to me. I’ve come home with so many memories, stories and lessons — and a much greater appreciation for the incredible opportunity I was given.
Thank you all again for believing in me and supporting my Kenya adventure. I’ll never forget it!
